INEC Declares Obaseki Winner of Edo Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Committee, INEC, has declared Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP winner of the 2020, Edo Guber polls.
Obaseki who is the incumbent governor, polled a total of 307,955 votes against his opponent Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the All Progressive Congress, APC who polled 223,619
INEC declared a total of 550,242 votes cast, a total of 537, 407 Valid votes and 12, 835 Rejected Votes
The Governor in his acceptance speech said “The great people of Edo state have spoken and they have spoken loud and clear”
He thanked the President for defending Nigerians democracy and allowing the electoral body, INEC and the security services to perform their constitutional functions without interference
“INEC and the Security services have shown Nigerians and the world indeed that they are capable of conducting free and credible elections” he said
“Words fail me in saluting the teeming supporters who displayed courage in the face of threats and intimidation to come out in their thousands to vote”
The Governor elect, reiterated his commitment to, with the support of the Deputy Governor elect, Phillip Shuaibu make Edo great again.
