Insecurity: APC guber aspirant faults Soludo’s claim of safe Anambra

By Cajetan Mmuta, Awka

Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, a governorship aspirant for the November 8, 2025 election in Anambra State under the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform, has faulted the state Governor, Prof Charles Soludo, for claiming the state was safe.

He said the Governor claimed he was working for the people of the state yet could not conveniently go home and sleep with his two eyes closed.

Ukachukwu, a former member of the House of Representatives who represented Abuja Area Council in 1999, stated this yesterday in Awka when he declared his governorship ambition before 36 members of the State Working Committee (SWC) and other stakeholders of the APC drawn from across the state’s 326 electoral wards and 21 local government areas.

This came as the APC vowed that the November 8, 2025, gubernatorial election remains its last chance and that it cannot afford to fail in its target of clinching the number one seat at the new Agu Awka Government House in Awka, the state capital.

He frowned thoughtfully at the claims by Governor Charles Soludo to be fighting for the security of lives and property of Ndi Anambra but unfortunately cannot go home to sleep due to a spate of insecurity that has claimed several lives, kidnappings, violent cult attacks, and other heinous crimes.

Ukachukwu said he wants to lead Anambra State under the APC party so that the state’s citizens and residents can sleep peacefully at night.

According to him, Anambra residents can no longer sleep in their homes, and people are refraining from returning to the state for fear of being kidnapped or killed.

He said, “Soludo is working, but unfortunately, he cannot go home and sleep due to the high insecurity in the state. Our people are no longer coming home. If we do not tackle the insecurity in our state, our children may not know their relatives; they might end up marrying their kin because they are not meeting them.

“If I become governor, I will apply my street sense to tackle the insecurity in the state. I was raised in a village and will use my street sense to handle it. Security issues should not be discussed publicly, but I assure you that Anambra will be secure if I am elected governor,” he stated.

The APC chieftain said that he intends to complete the tenure of Anambra South at the government house in Awka and rescue Anambra from insecurity.

He argued that whatever one cannot achieve in four years, he cannot accomplish in eight years.

He cited Dr Chris Ngige, who transformed the state in three years, and his legacies are still visible.

Ukachukwu assured his support for whoever emerges as the party’s candidate and urged the executive to conduct a credible primary election that all will accept.

“All the people running for the election have what it takes, and we have all achieved something. I am asking for a credible primary so we can go into the election united,” he said.

He also stated that he is ready to do anything to make Anambra work, apart from compromising his life and faith.

In his speech, the state chairman of APC, Chief Basil Ejidike, expressed the party’s determination to take over the reins of power at the state government house.

He notes that the only way to achieve this was through peace and unity among the members.

Ejidike called on the party faithful to work together for the party’s victory in the 2025 governorship elections.
