Officials in the Zamfara state government have resorted to fight over the lingering insecurity as serving Director General, Bello Bakyasuwa frowned at the activities of some members of the executive council in handling the security situation in the state.
Addressing Journalists in Gusau, Zamfara state capital, Bakyasuwa who was a retired Warrant Officer in the Nigeria Army, expressed concern over ineffectiveness of the security aides serving in the government, saying, the incessant attacks in towns and villages we’re as a result of incompetence of the commissioner and special adviser on security.
“We have been witnessing series attacks by bandits on daily basis, this was clearly an act of incompetence on the side of the security officials appointed by the Governor”, he added.
Bakyasuwa who described himself as security expert, stressed that, those charged with the responsibility of handling security issues have failed and asked to resign immediately.
“The commissioner of security and home affairs, Abubakar Dauran and Rtd. DIG Mamman Tsafe have clearly demonstrated incompetence and lack of security expertise in controlling the waves of banditry attacks in the state’s, he added.
He Lamented that, the Commissioner has turned into rescuing or getting kidnapped persons released but was not doing anything to bring an end to banditry in the state.
The Director General therefore called on Governor Matawalle to open his door for more security consultations so that he could get more innovations and ideas on how to get rid of banditry in the state.
He also appealed to the state House of Assembly to, as a matter of urgency provide sustainable and existing law to back up the reconciliation measures taken by the administration of Governor Matawalle in the fight against banditry.
Bakyasuwa, a loyalist of Send. Kabiru Marafa expressed disgust over the the attack on Yandoto Daji during the visit of Sen
Marafa to his country home describing it as coordinated attack aimed at scaring the former Senator.
“It is important for me to stress clearly that recent planned and coordinated attack which is carried out in Yandoton Daji during Senator Marafa’s visit was targeted at scaring our political icon in the person of Senator Marafa” he explained.
In his response, commissioner for security and home affairs, Abubakar Dauran, described the call for their resignation by a director-general as laughble.
“It is quite surprising for a director general to the resignation of a commissioner and Special Adviser it sounds madness, baseless and uncalled for.
He further revealed that the people of Zamfara knew the security situation in the state before the coming of Governor Bello Matawalle’s administration, so residents of the state were in the best position to make assessment of the security between the past administration and the present government.
“Members of the public are in the best position to make judgment on the achievements or failures we recorded on security matters not political taut”, he added
