INEC Mulls E- voting Beginning With Anambra Gov Poll

Elections nationwide may be conducted henceforth by electronics voting beginning with the Anambra governorship election, INEC Chairman, Professor Mamoud Yakubu has revealed

He told newsmen at the Budget defence at the National Assembly , that the election body may start electronics voting with the Anambra Elections in 2021

“We’re determined , we are going to deploy electronic voting machines, or electronic ballot machines in elections, possibly in Anambra Governorship elections next year. ”  he said

He explained that no less than 40 firms have demonstrated a pilot e-voting scheme but it was left for the commission to take a decision

“They have demonstrated. The next stage is for the commission to decide. So, its  too early to tell you the cost or when the process will be concluded” Prof Mamoud noted
