The Lagos State Government has said that all the ongoing housing projects in the state will be completed during Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s tenure.
The state Commissioner for Housing, Moruf Akinderu-Fatai, disclosed this when he led the Ministry’s technical team on a tour of the ongoing LagosHOMS housing project at Ajara in Badagry. He said the houses are built to the highest specifications.
In a statement yesterday by the Ministry’s Deputy Director of Public Affairs, Ganiu Lawal, the Commissioner restated the state government’s commitment to increasing the number of quality and decent homes available to citizens, particularly low—and medium-income earners.
While inspecting the 420 home units in 35 blocks of various categories of three, two, and one-bedroom flats and interacting with contractors on site, Akinderu-Fatai expressed his satisfaction with the quality and speed of the project’s delivery.
Akinderu-Fatai also informed the contractor to escalate any identified challenge for immediate resolution. He further stated that the delivery time should be met as agreed so that the Ministry can commission the project and hand it over to the allottees.
During the inspection, he expressed his satisfaction with the state of the project and felt proud of the quality of work being done.
The Commissioner advised the contractors to continue to use quality building materials, which provide homeowners with convenience and a cost-saving advantage in maintenance.
According to him, the LagosHOMS projects at Ajara, Badargy, have been designed to meet the home needs of Lagosians in the Lagos West senatorial district of the State.
The Commissioner assured all expectant home seekers in the State that all hands are on deck to ensure that Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s vision to substantially increase the housing stock for Lagosians is realized.
During the visit, Abdulhafis Gbolahan Toriola, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Housing, advised contractors to get the Ministry’s technical team’s approval on their building materials before installation.
Toriola also reiterated the State Government’s commitment to ensuring that gaps in the provision of high-quality and affordable housing are filled on a progressive basis.
