The Rivers State Government has filed a fresh suit against the Federal Government before the Supreme Court over the implementation of the naira redesign policy.
The state government, through its counsel, Emmanuel Ukala (SAN), wants the apex court to stop full implementation of the naira policy redesign.
Ukala said that the Rivers government was standing its grounds not to team up with other states, adding that it would prefer to do its case separately.
ThisNigeria reported that six other states including Lagos, Cross River, Ogun, Ekiti, Ondo and Sokoto have joined Kaduna, Kogi, and Zamfara in the legal battle against the Federal Government over the naira redesign policy.

Meanwhile, Edo and Bayelsa states sought to be joined as respondents in the case against the Federal Government as their counsels told the panel of seven-man Justices of the apex court that they are in support of the cashless policy regime.
The apex court then fixed February 22 for the hearing of the suits.
Recall that the Supreme Court had on February 8, temporarily stopped the withdrawal of old Naira Notes on the deadline given by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
