The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi has honoured Nollywood actor and filmmaker Ibrahim Chatta for his contributions to Yoruba cultural heritage.
Chatta received the prestigious award during the African Fashion Week held in Lagos on Sunday.
Known for his roles in Yoruba films such as House of Gaa and Jagun Jagun, Ibrahim showed respect by kneeling to receive the honour from the monarch.
In a video shared on Monday, the Ooni was seen offering warm prayers to the actor in Yoruba.
Ibrahim expressed gratitude in his caption writing, “AlhamduliLlah as we got yet another Award for special recognition by His royal majesty Arole Oodua Olofin Adimula Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Babatunde Ogunwusi (Ojaja II, Ooni of Ife) @ooniadimulaife.
“Thanks so much Maami Olori Aderonke Ogunwusi.”
The award comes just days after Ibrahim appeared on the Talk To B podcast, where he addressed claims that he is underrated in the movie industry.
“A lot of times, some people say Ibrahim Chatta is underrated. No, I’m not. I’m one of the highest-paid Yoruba-speaking actors in Nigeria,” he confidently stated.
