An Ado-Ekiti Magistrate’s Court, on Friday, ordered the remand of Adedokun Anthony (40) and Ayodele Ayoola (44) at the Correctional Centre in Ado-Ekiti for alleged rape and cyber-stalking.
The defendants, of unknown addresses, are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, rape and cyber-stalking.
The police prosecutor, Insp Olumide Bamigbade, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on Jan.17 in Ado-Ekiti.
Bamigbade alleged that the defendants conspired among themselves and raped a 20-year-old lady and a 27-year-old lady and threatened to send their videos on social media.
He said the defendants, who claimed to be police officers, lured their victims with the promise to assist them to secure employment with the police service.
“They invited the victims to their house on a different day, raped them and videotaped them, threatened to send their videos online, if they failed to come back for another round of sex,” the prosecutor said.

According to him, the offences contravened sections 2(2) of the Ekiti state Gender-Based Violence Law 2019, and section 24 of the Cyber Crime (Prohibition, Preventive) Act.
Bamigbade urged the court to remand the defendants in a correctional centre, pending the receipt of legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
The plea of the defendants was not taken.
The magistrate, Mrs Olubunmi Bamidele, ordered the remand of the defendants in the correctional centre, pending issuance of the legal advice.
She adjourned the case till Feb.23, for mention.(NAN)
