Okada riders set Abuja Estate ablaze over death of colleagues

No fewer than 100 Hausa motorcyclists on Sunday set ablaze the Same Global Estate in the Lokogoma axis of Abuja.

According to our correspondent, the attack was to avenge the death of their colleagues, who were knocked down by a motorist.

It was learned that the driver of the car ran into the estate for safety.

An eyewitness who narrated the incident said that the Okada riders attacked the estate in a bid to apprehend the unidentified motorist.

The unidentified car driver was chased by a mammoth crowd of the Okada riders after he overran two of their colleagues.

The security personnel’s timely intervention at the estate saved further damage to their properties.

Mr Adebisi Adelowo, the Estate agent said, “Over 100 Hausa bike riders attacked our estate some hours ago. They tried to burn down the estate by putting fire on two buildings.

“They pulled down our gate and started stoning people’s houses. We couldn’t stop them until the police and the army intervened.

“We later learnt that they attacked our estate because two of their colleagues were knocked to death by a motorist who ran to our estate for safety as he was been chased with big stones and other dangerous weapons.

“The motorist who is not even a resident of our estate ran into the estate because he noticed a police post in front of the estate.”
