Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, yesterday said he accepted to work with the present administration because the President, Bola Tinubu, has the capacity and political will to deliver dividends of democracy.
Wike stated this during a media interaction with journalists at his office in Abuja.
The Minister, who noted that leadership is one of the greatest problems in the country, said he discovered when he assumed office that the law establishing the FCT civil service was already in existence but not implemented.
According to Wike, nobody had the political will to implement it, but Tinubu ordered the implementation when it was brought to his notice.

He said, “One of the problems of this country is leadership. Many people do not want to take action. There is no action you will take that everybody will be happy with. In 2018, the National Assembly passed a bill into law which was assented to by former Vice President (Yemi) Osinbajo, when he was acting as President. The law says FCT should have a civil service commission but everybody has been running away from it.
“Nobody wants to implement it and nobody has the political will to implement it. Everybody is say if I am the Head of Service it will reduce my power, but it is about the institution.
The Minister will come and go, so also the Head of Service will come and go. If the National Assembly passes a bill into law which is assented to by the President, there is nothing wrong in implementing the law.”
