Alleged extra judicial killings: Interpol nab wanted corps member

Operatives of the Anambra’ State Police Command have arrested a 26-year-old member of the National Youth Service Corps, (NYSC), who was declared wanted by on February 20, 2023 for impersonating an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), fraud, defamation of character and other crimes.

Emeh Nnamdi Daniel was arrested in Benin Republic by the INTERPOL operatives in a joint operation with officials of Nigeria on Friday, March 3, 2023.

He was earlier declared wanted by the State police command in connection with allegations that top police officers of the command were involved in kidnapping, killing of suspects and organ harvesting and trafficking after extorting them.

It was gathered that Emeh Daniel Nnamdi is an Informatoon Technology (IT) expert who was serving with the state command as a tracker in the command headquarters and had started impersonating personnel of the Nigeria Police Force

He has since been whisked to the force headquarters Abuja.

Recall that the Anambra State Police Command had last month declared wanted Emeh Daniel wanted in connection with alleged unlawful possession of a firearm, money laundering, defamation of character, fraud, and Impersonation.

According to the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Tochukwu Ikenga, the 26 year old Nnamdi Daniel is a youth corp member with State Code Number AN/22A/3323, attached to Anambra State Police Command and is positively identified, involve/mentioned in an ongoing investigation in the command.

At the moment an ongoing sweeping investigation is at its peak at the force headquarters following the order by the InspectorGeneral of Police IGP Usman Baba Alkali for a panel to discretely investigate some top officials of Zone 13 Ukpo in DUNUKOFIA LGA and the State command following alleged involvement of senior officers in various crimes.

 

It was learnt that Governor Charles Soludo who was deeply concerned about the shocking Revelations had written a powerful letter to the IGP Usman requesting for a thorough investigations into the high profile cases involving the officers of both state and Zonal commands of the force over allegations of unprofessional conduct, high profile killings and corruption in the state.

The special investigation panel is under the IGP Monitoring and Mentoring Unit.

Recall that the allegations the affected officers in both state and Zonal commands were made on social media platforms.

Following the serious allegations leveled against the officers – CSP Patrick Agbazue, officer-in-charge of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Anambra State Command; SP Nwode Nkeiruka, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Zone 13 Headquarters, Ukpo-Dunukofia, and Inspector Harrison Akama attached to the RRS, were ordered to report at the Force Headquarters, Louis Edet House, Abuja on Friday 17th February, 2023.

The invitation of the senior officers was on the directives of the IGP Usman for commencement of investigations to ascertain the veracity of the allegations for further necessary action.

Also, the panel had been given a period of two weeks to come up with a report of its investigations.

A statement by CSP Olumuyiwa Adedejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters Abuja, the force enjoined any member of the public who has had experiences or information on acts of high-handedness, extortion, or extra-judicial killings by the officers in question, to forward same with detailed information via mobile number 08036242591, or by email via pressforabuja@police.gov.ng, igpmufhq@npf-c4i.com to enable the panel achieve a wholistic investigation.

The IGP assured that the findings of the investigations will determine the next line of action, even as he promises that the Force will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that justice is done in the case and sanctions meted to any officers found guilty accordingly.
