29 Suspects arrested for kidnapping, banditry, armed robbery in Bauchi

The Police command in Bauchi state have arrested 29 supects for various crimes ranging from banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery in the state.

The Commissioner of police, Abiodun Sylvester Alabi, while parading the suspects at the Command headquarters said  his officers led a successful operation that led to the arrest of high profile criminals terrorising Bauchi metropolis, Alkaleri and Toro Areas of the state.

Alabi stated that “On Tuesday 30th March, 2021 at about 1800hrs, our Joint Task Force Operatives in collaboration with Danga Security personnel while on patrol along riga forest base 1 at Duguri Gwana area of Alkaleri Local Government Area (LGA), ran into an assembly of some dangerously armed bandits and Kidnappers, notoriously known for terrorizing the Duguri Area”he explained.

He said the encounter resulted in a heavy gun battle between our men and the criminals which led to the killing of two of the unknown armed bandits, while others escaped with bullet wounds.

Bauchi arrest

He said an AK 47 rifle with breach No.357843, a locally made single barrel gun, sixteen (16) live ammunition of 7.62mm caliber, two cutlasses and knife were parts of the exhibits recovered from the scene.

Other items recovered from the suspects are two motorcycles with registration NO. TRN 762 QP and KEY 322 QL, large catches of Bow and Arrows, one (1) Techno handset and substantial quantity of a certain substance suspected to be Cannabis.

Alabi further stated that “through intelligence gathering, one Inusa Mai Kasuwa 23yrs of Tashan Laya Village, Nabordo of Toro LGA was observed to be engaged in suspicious acts such as keeping late night, making suspicious calls and recklessly spending money despite being jobless. He was brought in for questioning by our men and he confessed to have participated in a meeting to organize a kidnap at Masbaka/Dori Village on the 16/03/2021 then at Takanda Giwa on the 20/03/2021 both in Toro LGA, after further interrogation, he revealed the identities of his other gang members who were later trailed and arrested.

Munkaila Baiko

Shehu Ibrahim

Musa Mohammed (Soja)

Abdulrahman Umar the kingpin of the gang who is involved in

armed robbery and Kidnapping along Nabordo Highway and its environs.

All suspects confessed to the crime. They will be charged to court for prosecution.

On the 31/03/2021 at about 1130hrs one Abdulkarim Isah aged 20yrs of Karin Lamido Taraba State, Criminally Conspired with three (3) others now at large, invaded and attacked the house of one Malam Usman Gandi of Ruga Village via Alkaleri L.G.A in a bid to kidnap him and his wife one Wasiya Usman aged 32yrs of same address where the said Abdulkarim Isah got injured in the Process and they all fled the scene.

He said “through robust and actionable intelligence, the detectives were able to track down the said suspect; Abdulkarim alongside one Yusuf Adamu from whom; Two Dane guns, thirty three (33) pellets used as local bullet, one Techno handset, dry leaves suspected to be Cannabis, forty four white tablets substance suspected to be exxol were found in his possession and a gun powder. During interrogation, both suspects voluntarily confessed to various crimes such as; Kidnapping, Armed Robbery and Drug trafficking.

He added that “On the 31/03/2021 at about 0310hrs, the following suspects:

Adamu Abubakar

Sagir Yusuf

Idris Mohammed all of Kaduna, Jigawa and Bauchi States

were arrested at Liman Katagum with two (2) Boxer motorcycle, Red in color as exhibit. It was gathered that sometimes last year around the 28/12/2020 at about 0300hrs the above mentioned names armed themselves with Dane guns, machetes and sticks attacked the following persons;

  1. Abubakar Ali.
  2. Buba Ali,
  3. Yahaya Ali, all of Alkaleri, Bauchi State.

They tied their victims up, and took them to an unknown destination for about three (3) days, demanding a ransom of four million naira (N4,000,000) in addition to converting two hundred and thirty (230) cows of the victims to their personnel use.

Police arrest 20 suspects for sexual offences in Bauchi

During interrogation, all suspects confessed to the crime,

Exhibits recovered from them include;

Two hundred and thirty (230) cows

Thirty nine (39) sheeps

Five (5) donkey

One (1) dog

All exhibits recovered from the suspects were released to the owners. After proper and announcing identification.

He said suspects have confessed to the crimes and will be charged to court.
