The Commissioner for Information and Values Orientation in Ekiti, Mr Akin Omole, has called on the state information officers to be good competitors in Information Communication Technology (ICT) drive.
Omole made the call during a one-day training programme organised by the ministry for newly-recruited information officers in the state civil service.
The commissioner, represented by Mr Femi Adedipe, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, said the call became necessary for the officers to be relevant in the scheme of things.
Omole expressed the need for the officers to be able to compete with their counterparts globally and discharge their duties with relative ease.
According to him, though the Fayemi-led administration does not believe in propaganda, information officers should be able to effectively inform the people about the policies, programmes and activities of government.
He said the officers should be able to simultaneously inform the government of happenings in every nook and cranny of the state through their reports.
Omole said that information officers should act as bridge between government and the governed, saying that they must, therefore, set achievable goals for themselves and strive to live up to their responsibilities.
He reiterated the commitment of the present administration toward the training and retraining of workers in the state to achieve and maintain a virile workforce.

Mrs Bosede Abayomi, a Resource Person and Director, Bureau of Information and Communication Technology, recommended the procurement of computer laptops and other basic tools for information officers to enhance their performance.
Mr Deji Fatoba, a participant, expressed gratitude to Gov. Kayode Fayemi and the Commissioner for Information and Values Orientation, for the laudable programme and pledged to discharge their duties to the best of their ability.
