The Anambra State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), said on Wednesday that its officers and men are ready in providing adequate security across the state before, during and after the November 6 governorship election.
State Commandant of the outfit, Everestus Obiyo stated this when he received members of Anambra Elders and Stakeholders Forum for Good Leadership (ANELDERSHIP FORUM), an umbrella body of elders, opinion leaders, critical thinkers and stakeholders in the State.
He also assured adequate deployment of operational, intelligence and tactical assets across every nook and cranny of the state to neutralize any threat or acts capable of disrupting peaceful conduct of the exercise.
Obiyo called for concerted efforts by relevant stakeholders in ensuring free, credible, and violence-free elections in the State.
According to him, “We need you to enlighten youths in the state on the need to embrace peace and work together for dialogue,a reconciliation and peaceful settlement of their grievances through the appropriate authority.”
“NSCDC will collaborate with sister security agencies to ensure the safety of the electorate, INEC officials and their materials while setting all machinery in place for the protection of all Government’s Critical Assets and Infrastructure against vandalism,” he said.
NSCDC arrest 40 suspects in Edo
Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Bishop Justice Ikpeama said their visit was to ascertain the level of preparedness of the NSCDC for the forthcoming election.
“Our core mandate Is to bring joy and hope to the generality of the people of the state by insisting the ship of Anambra State be steered at all times by highly responsible people of proven integrity, who have the interest of the masses at heart,” he stated.
He commended the NSCDC leadership for not abdicating its responsibility of protecting lives and property even as he promised to support and collaborate with the Corps to reduce incidences of crimes and criminalities in the state to the barest minimum through volunteering of credible information.
