Two people have reportedly been killed in the violence that broke up following the killing of a woman by a truck which smashed a woman who was on a bike.
Information reaching ThisNigeria states that the truck lost control after it failed brake and killed the woman instantly.
Following the tragic incident, hoodlums took advantage of the situation and started attacking some shops, cars were smashed with windscreens smashed while the Dei dei wood and furniture market was set ablaze.
In the violence one person was reportedly killed in addition to the woman killed by the truck.
Another report has it that the violence started when bike Riders protested the recklessness of the truck driver which caused the accident, setting the Truck on fire.
Many traders specializing in the sales of plywood and related products suffered huge monetary losses as a result of the violence

The uproar later assumed ethnic dimension between Igbo traders and hoodlums who tried to loot shops.
Some other reports have it that the burning down of the motorcycle resulted in counter reaction from the commercial motor cyclists, who mobilised in large numbers and attacked the traders. They set the timber market owned mainly by traders from south-eastern part of the country on fire, causing the traders huge losses.
One of the traders, use Nnaemeka said he lost timber goods worth over a billion naira to the outbreak.
“See someone’s warehouse that has over N1 billion. What did we do to the Hausas in this country. See house properties are being destroyed,” Nnaemeka lamented.
