Major stakeholders and people of the Adabebe community in Amawbia town near Awka the Anambra state capital have warned all the political parties and their candidates for the National and State Houses of Assembly ahead of the 2023 elections in the state not to come for campaigns in the area following over two years of darkness in the area.
Adabebe community and residents have been relocating to other villages following the collapse of an old power transformer that had been in use for the past 30 years due to the failure of power supply by the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC).
This is as the community is shopping for the sum of N4.5 million for the installation of a newly procured transformer to serve the area.
A spokesman for the community, Nze Uchenna Chukwuka said all forms of political activities would not be allowed in Adabebe community until the power supply is restored to the area.

He said, “This has become necessary because in the last two years we have not had an electric power supply in Adabebe and the old transformer has gone bad we already have a new one that we are trying to mount and is will cost about N4.5 million and nobody is responding to us ”
Chukwka pointed out that despite letters shared with people and politicians non has deemed it fair and just to come to our aid and tomorrow they would start disturbing us to vote for them”
The people warned that they would pull down campaign canopies and chairs meant for campaigns, stressing that posters and billboards are not allowed until the new transformer is mounted and full electricity power supply is restored in the area.
“We are particular about this issue of power supply and we will not allow anyone that claims to to contesting election to hold any rally here in Adabebe village” he added.
