2023: APC women are determined to work together – Tallen

By David Lawani, Abuja
The Minister of Women Affairs, Paul Tallen has urged Women in the All Progressives Congress, APC, to see themselves as one and always show love to one another.

Tallen gave this advice when she spoke during the APC women leaders’ strategy planning and capacity building workshops in collaboration with the International Republican Institute, IRI.

She commended the National Women leader of the party, Dr Beta Edu for deeming it fit for putting up such a wonderful program which enables women to talk to themselves on critical issues that affect their interests and their welfare.

“What we are doing today is a sign of unity, It is a sign of hope and victory. It is of unity and one. Women are speaking with one voice. They are determined to work with one another, to support one another and to support our brand new national women leader as she struggles with all the Strategic partners.

” We congratulate and celebrate our president. We celebrate our brand new chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu whom we believed and know his antecedents that he has respect for women. And will support this woman in this party to take their rightful place”, he said.

On the quick gains for gender policy for women, the Minister reiterated further: ” The quick gains for women is the strategy of ensuring that women are not left behind. The affirmative action of 35% has to be upheld. And thank God for the approval of the gender policy, and the court judgement we won on the 8th of April, which is also monumental and strategic.

” And it is giving the sign of hope for Nigerian women. And Mr President is fully committed to ensuring that within the remaining months that he has in the office, he is willing to and in line with the court judgement. He is a man that respects the rule of law. And we believe that those that will come after him, will follow suit”, she noted.

On her part, the National Women Leader, Dr Beta Edu in her remarks encouraged women who came from different Zones and states to show readiness and determination in participating in the elections.

“I am glad to see your beautiful faces today. No nation without women. Nigerian women have the capacity and energy to do lots of good things. The time has come to use that opportunity and it is now.

“You must realize the gifts God has given you. Women command lots of respect everywhere. You are not different. You are unique. That is why we are here to talk and share ideas that can move us all forward.

“I believe in you. We can do a lot together. That is why we are gathered here today so that we can continue to support each other irrespective of where we are located. Let us keep networking. It is the only way to stay true to each other. Stop pulling yourselves down. Encourage each other to be up and doing. True love conquers fear”, she said.
