2023 CAF Awards: Oshoala, Nnadozie, Abiodun, Ajakaye make final shortlist

Barcelona’s Asisat Oshoala, Paris FC goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie and two other Super Falcons have made the final list for the 2023 Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) Awards for women.

Oshoala and Nnadozie made the cut for the Player of the Year alongside the Moroccan quartet of Fatima Tagnaout, Ghizlaine Chebbak, Ibtissam Jraidi and Khadija Er-Rmichi and South African trio, Andile Dlamini, Hilda Magaia and Jermaine Seoposenwe.

Nnadozie was also shortlisted for the Goalkeeper of the Year award and will slug it out with Imane Abdelahad, Khadija Er-Rmichi, Andile Dlamini and Kaylin Swart.

The Paris FC shot-stopper will be hoping to make history by becoming the first-ever player to win the award.

Deborah Abiodun and Esther Ajakaye are the two other Nigerians in the running for the Young Player of the Year category alongside Comort Yeboah, Nesryne El Chad and Thubelihle Shamase.

In the same vein, Coach Randy Waldrum is to battle Mehdi El Qaichouri, Jerry Tshabalala, Reynald Pedros and Desiree Ellis for Coach of the Year.

Nigeria also made the final shortlist for the National team and will have to beat AFCON champions South Africa, Morocco, Zambia and Senegal for the award.

The winner of each category will be announced on December 11 at an Award Gala in Marrakech, Morocco.
