2023 Election: Atiku, Obi, Shettima, others sign Peace accord

Ahead of the 2023 general election, presidential candidates of different political parties are at the International Conference Centre (ICC) , Abuja for the first National Peace Accord.

In attendance are presidential candidates, their running mates as well as their party chairmen.

Candidates at the ceremony include vice presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress(APC) Senator Kashim Shettima, PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar ,presidential candidates of  labour party, Peter Obi , candidate of Action Alliance(AA) Omoleye Sowore ,candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPPC) Omoleye and Senator Rabiu Kwanwaso, amongst others.

However, presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress(APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu was surprisingly  absent at the event.

The National Peace Accord headed by  former head of state Abdulsalami Abubakar was put in place in reponse to the  threats from the 2015 general election.

The initiative  was set up to curb violence, incitement and commit candidates of political p[arties to  accept the outcome of the votes as long as it is adjudged to be free fair and credible.
