2023 elections: Tinubu files suit to restrain parties from halting results collation

The All Progressives Congress and its presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu have filed a lawsuit to restrain all opposition parties from making moves to halt the collation of the February 25 presidential election.

According to Daily Trust, the suit marked FHC/KN/CS/43/2023 was filed before the Federal High Court in Kano.

The suit sought to restrain the Labour Party and the People’s Democratic Party preventing the continuous announcement and collation of results of the poll.

Joined as defendants include the Action Alliance and the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC).

The APC vice presidential candidate, Kashim Shettima, was also listed as a plaintiff.

Recall that the LP and the PDP had held a joint press conference, calling for the cancellation of the election over alleged electoral malpractices.

As of the time of filing this report, Tinubu is in the lead, followed by PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and LP flagbearer, Peter Obi.
