2023: Obi hits back at Soludo

The Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate for the 2033 election, Mr Peter Obi, yesterday replied to the attack against him by the Governor of Anambra State, Prof Charles Soludo.

Obi said that while he is a trader, Soludo is a professor who is older and more intelligent and should, therefore, continue with the provision of effective governance in the state.

He said that God had allowed Soludo to handle and succeed in areas in which he (Obi) did not perform successfully.

Obi said that while he has done his work as a trader, Soludo can do his things as a professor and excel.

He said, “When you spread your investments some will go up some will go down but overall the company is still there, the company is still doing well. It is still part of a global chain and everything.

“I needed to explain it, not because I am defending against the comments made by my brother. My brother is my brother and remains my brother very close. I remain prayerful for him. For other things in which I did not succeed God has allowed him to do it and succeed for me.

“So, if there is anything pending, governance is governance, you don’t finish. People are still in government in America.

“So you stop where you stop, other people will continue from there. I don’t look back, he is a governor of my state, he is my senior brother, and he is even more intelligent than I am because he is a professor and I am a trader.

“So he will be able to do things better than I am doing them. I have done my little as a trader, now the Professor is there and he will do his own as a professor. If the schools I built did not have roofs he will roof them- that is how the government goes. Another person comes, and does his own.”

Soludo had on Monday attacked Obi in a lengthy article, claiming that he would not win the presidential election.

He said that Obi’s ambition for the presidency was nothing more than a dream.

He also took on Obi’s claim of making huge savings for Anambra State during his tenure, saying that governments exist to save lives and not to save money.

But the Obi-Datti Campaign Organisation, in its reaction said that there is no time to respond to or pay attention to Governor Charles Soludo’s diatribe.

According to the organisation, the presidential hopeful is preoccupied with convincing voters that a new Nigeria is possible through rigorous campaigns.

The LP presidential candidate’s team spoke on Tuesday through a spokesperson of the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Organisation, Ndi Kato.

Also, Ozonna Soludo, one of the sons of Governor Soludo, said Obi is the best among the candidates contesting for the presidency in 2023.

Ozonna said while he does not want to be dragged into politics, he prefers Obi to other candidates.

The 28-year-old UK-based artiste disclosed this in a comment on Facebook in response to a social media post criticizing his father for a scathing attack on Obi and opposing his presidential ambition.

He wrote “I am not an extension of anybody. I have my own opinions and have always said I think Peter is the best candidate. All this has nothing to do with me,” he said
