The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Committee tasked with the search for a running mate for its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar has zeroed in on Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.
A source who was present at the meeting told THISNIGERIA that after much deliberation, the Umaru Damagum-led committee members were asked to vote for their choice.
“Yes, we had a useful deliberation on the way forward on who should be the running mate to our presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
“Members of the committee present voted and at the end of the exercise, Governor Nyesom Wike scored 16 votes. There was no need to continue because we were just 19 members,” the source said.

Members who attended the meeting include: House Minority Leader, Hon. Tony Elumelu, Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, former governor of Niger State, Babagida Aliyu, former governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, former Cross Rivers State Governor, Liyel Imoke and
Others include former governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko and PDP National Secretary, Sam Nwayanu, National Organising Secretary, Hon. Umar Bature, former senate president David Mark
Meanwhile, Governor Nyesom Wike will on Wednesday or Thursday appear before the presidential screening committee.
