The Kano State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has called for the resignation of the party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.
Shehu Sagagi, the state Chairman of the party, made the call at a press conference on Wednesday.
According to Sagagi, the National Chairman made a promise to step down from his position should the presidential candidate of the party emerge from the Northern region.
ThisNigeria reports that Atiku Abubakar, who is the presidential flagbearer of the PDP, hails from Adamawa State.
Sagagi stated further that Ayu should honour his promise by resigning, since Atiku hails from the North.

He added that the Bauchi chapter of the party remained loyal to the national body and had no plan to run anti-party in the state.
Recall that a source told ThisNigeria that Ayu was used by some “vociferous forces” within the party to frustrate the emergence of Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, as the party’s vice presidential candidate for the 2023 presidential elections.
