Director-General of the Bola Tinubu Support Group Council, Abdulmumin Jibrin has explained that the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress is tagged a corrupt politician due to false information on the internet.
Jibrin said this on Tuesday during an interview with Arise News monitored by ThisNigeria.
The former house of representatives member was responding to a question of how the former governor of Lagos amassed his wealth.
“There is hardly any politician in Nigeria that has not been accused of being corrupt. Corruption is a highly thrown-around word. The only way that you can ascertain that a person is corrupt is when it is pronounced by a court of law. Tinubu has been investigated several times and he was never found guilty. He is not corrupt.
“Tinubu is being picked on because he is a frontrunner. That is how it is around the world. Donald Trump was also accused of being corrupt until he became the president. It is unfair for people to pick on what was made up on the internet and escalate it. Tinubu is an armoured tank that everyone tries to hit because they know he has a shot at the presidency in 2023. Asiwaju has always been under attack since his role in the 2015 presidential election,” Jibrin said.

Defending the bullion van controversy, Jubrin said that Tinubu’s pedigree, achievements should be the focus.
“We will not elevate trash made up by social media. The conversation will remain about his achievements, what he has done for Lagos State and Nigeria,” the former lawmaker said.
Speaking on Tinubu’s health, Jibrin said it is part of human nature to fall ill.
“There is no big deal for anyone to fall ill. Tinubu is human and the reason why his health was major news is because of his popularity. If he wanted to hide it, he would have prevented visits from everyone. He is hale and hearty, up and doing. We need to stop playing politics with issues like this,” he stated.
