By Vincent Egunyanga, Abuja
The Renewed Hope Ex-Councillors Forum has congratulated all candidates who emerged as flag bearers of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the 2027 Governorship Elections across Nigeria, describing their emergence as a major step toward consolidating progressive governance at the state levels.
In a statement issued at its National Secretariat in Abuja and signed by the National Coordinator, Barr. Bashir Ba’ale, the Forum said the candidates’ victory at the party primaries reflected their dedication, political experience, leadership qualities, and commitment to the ideals of the APC.
The group noted that the selection process demonstrated internal democracy within the party.
“Your emergence reflects the trust party members have in your capacity to deliver,” Barr. Ba’ale stated.
He added that the national leadership, regional, zonal, state, local government, and ward structures of the Forum were celebrating the milestone with the candidates and their supporters across the country.
The Forum, made up of former local government councillors, said it understood governance from the grassroots and was confident that the candidates would strengthen democratic governance, sustainable development, and inclusive prosperity if elected.
According to the statement, their experience at the ward and LGA levels positions them to connect government policies with the realities of ordinary Nigerians.
“We commend your determination to serve your respective states and the nation,” the statement read. “As ex-councillors, we understand governance from the grassroots. We are confident your candidacies will strengthen democratic governance, sustainable development, and inclusive prosperity under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
The Forum used the opportunity to call for unity within the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections. It urged all party faithful, stakeholders, and supporters to set aside differences and rally behind the candidates to ensure victory at the polls. The group stressed that internal cohesion would be critical to defeating opposition parties.
“As part of our contribution, we are mobilizing our grassroots network in all 36 states and the FCT to support our candidates from ward level upward,” Barr. Ba’ale said.
He emphasized that the Renewed Hope Agenda must succeed in the states to deliver dividends of democracy for Nigerians in terms of infrastructure, security, and economic opportunities.
The ex-councillors also offered prayers for the candidates, asking Almighty God to grant them wisdom, strength, good health, and the courage to lead issue-based and peaceful campaigns.
The Forum said it would remain neutral among APC candidates during primaries but would give full support once the candidates emerge.
The Renewed Hope Ex-Councillors Forum, described itself as a national body of former local government councillors committed to mobilizing grassroots support for the policies and vision of the APC and President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The Forum said it would continue to engage communities at the ward level to explain government programmes and drive voter education ahead of 2027.
