Traditional rulers, market leaders and other stakeholders in Ogun West have endorsed President Bola Tinubu for re-election in 2027 and adopted Senator Solomon Adeola (Yayi) as their preferred governorship candidate for Ogun State.

The position was conveyed in separate communiqués issued after meetings and a press conference held in Ilaro-Yewa, involving the Ogun West Baales’ Forum, market leaders and traders’ associations, as well as Coronet Obas.

At its congress on March 24, 2026, the Baales’ Forum said its intervention was informed by “prevailing political developments,” noting that the decision followed consultations across the district.

Speaking through Chief Alade Adeniyi, Baale of Agbawo, Igan-Okoto, the forum declared support for Tinubu’s second-term bid. It unanimously adopted Adeola as the sole candidate for the governorship from Ogun West.

“The Forum hereby expresses its support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu… and reaffirms our confidence in his leadership,” the communiqué stated.

The Baales anchored their decision on Adeola’s “proven track record,” citing his performance in public office and engagement with constituents.

Similarly, the Ogun West Market Leaders Forum, led by the Babaloja of Yewaland, Chief Adewale Adeshina, and the Iyaloja of Yewaland, Chief Mrs Yemisi Abass, also endorsed both Tinubu and Adeola, linking their position to improvements in market infrastructure and economic conditions across the zone.

“We commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Solomon Adeola for their remarkable interventions in the construction and reconstruction of markets,” the communiqué read.

The traders further pledged to mobilise support for Adeola’s candidacy across their networks.

In the same vein, the Coronet Obas of Ogun West, at a meeting held on March 23, threw their weight behind Tinubu’s re-election, citing the need for continuity to sustain ongoing reforms.

They also unanimously adopted Adeola as their preferred governorship candidate, pointing to his “demonstrated responsiveness” and developmental footprint across the district.

“We hereby unanimously and unequivocally endorse Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (YAYI) as our preferred and sole candidate,” the statement added.

The coordinated endorsements signal early political alignment within Ogun West ahead of the 2027 general elections.
