360 Reps Move Against Ravaging Flooding Nationwide, Sponsor Motion

The 360 members of the House of Representatives in an unprecedented way are speaking with one voice to address the devastating flooding across the country
In a motion they all signed into, the members representing the 360 federal constituencies in the country are worried over the ravaging flood nationwide which has caused havoc to Nigerians, especially farmers and homes where crops, properties put at billions have been lost
According to the lawmakers, there is no state in the country that has not been affected by recent flooding, according to the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA which informed that no less than 275 local areas across the 36 states of the federation and the FCT fall within the moderately probable flood risk areas.
From Sokoto to Bayelsa, no state is spared, the lawmakers noted during debate of the general principles of the motion
Accordingly, the lawmakers are urging the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA and the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development to immediately intervene and provide relief materials to all the affected communities nationwide and as well ensure that all displaced persons, families communities are rehabilitated and supported to begin life again
The House also mandated the committee on Emergency and Disaster preparedness as well as the legislative committee and management to capture all areas affected by collecting data of the flooding in the constituencies
