About 45,000 vulnerable groups are to benefit from the Bauchi State Healthcare provision Fund NHIS-Gateway Service under the State Health Contributory Management agency.
This was disclosed by Bauchi State Governor, Mohammed Abdulkadri on Thursday during the enrollment of beneficiaries and launching of the Healthcare provision fund NHIS Gateway service at primary health care center, Liman Katagum in Bauchi.
Governor Mohammed said that the enrollment of beneficiaries and launching of the Healthcare provision fund NHIS Gateway service is a social programme that pays for the health services of vulnerable members of the society, adding that the vulnerable groups include the under five, women within reproductive age group, disabled, old persons and the poorest of the poor.
Bala who was represented by his deputy, Baba Tela, said the common man is desperately yearning for succor, adding that the basic health care provision fund programme will eliminate financial barriers, improve access to quality health care and strengthen the health system of the state.
“Bauchi State has 20 local government areas with 323 wards. Each ward has a well equipped health facility with skilled personnel’s and each is to serve 137 vulnerable group, bringing the total to 45,000 across the state”
“With State government counterpart fund and gradual increase in federal allocation, it will go a long way in providing access to health care, alleviating poverty, improving quality of health care and general improvement of health infrastructures in the state” he said

Governor Mohammed appealed to the federal government through the federal ministry of health and National Health insurance scheme to ensure timely disbursement of the contribution of the federal government, pointing out that this was one of the reasons the launching of health scheme came late.
In his address at the occasion, the State Executive Chairman of the Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr Rilwanu Mohammed said that the health agency received N447 million for the takeoff of the health care provision fund programme, adding that out of the money, the agency will give N377 million directly to the health facilities in the state.
