The Acting Chairman, Ekiti Sports Council, Mrs. Olusola Osetoba, has called on parents to support their female children to actively participate in sporting activities.
Osetoba made the call in a statement on Monday, in Ado-Ekiti by the Head of Media Office, Mr. Gbenga Adeleye.
Osetoba, who was quoted as making the call while hosting Osetoba Babes in Emure, Emure Local Government Area (LGA) of Ekiti, called for more women’s participation in sports.
Osetoba Babes represented Emure LGA in the female category of the Prof. Akin Oyebode U-15 Football Competition recently held in Ekiti.
She encouraged the young girls to take their academics seriously just as they do with sports, particularly football.
Osetoba, however, decried the views of parents not supporting their female children in participating in sporting activities.

“Parents should encourage their girls to participate in sporting activities.
“Gone are the days when we see sports like men’s games. We have had women who made their breakthroughs in sports, particularly in football.
“Sporting activities are not only meant for men and we have to make our parents understand this fact,” she said.
On behalf of the team, the captain, Ukamaka Samson, thanked Osetoba for giving them the privilege to compete with their colleagues from other local governments of the state.
