Foundation to train 300 out of school children in Cross River

Rochas Foundation, a nongovernmental organization says an educational institution will be opened in Cross River State in January 2022.

The institution will take off with 300 out-of-school children in the state.

Uluoma Uche Nwosu, the Chief of Staff to the President of Rochas Foundation (Senator Rochas Okorocha) disclosed this in Calabar.

According to her “The Foundation has done a research and found out that there are lots of out-of-school children in the state.

“We are coming to the South-South for the first time and ensuring that the Rochas Foundation School in Cross River is built and ready to take off in January 2022.

“We are kicking off with 300 children front the streets who have no hope of going to school, who thought their lives are over and providing a beacon of hope for these children,” she said.

She said the Foundation will launch a mentorship programme for the first time in the history of Rochas Foundation and this will kick off in the state.

She added that the foundation has trained about 25,000 children in its 25 years of existence and has produced over 6000 graduates.

She called on relevant stakeholders in the state to partner with the Foundation in the area of mentorship to give these children a sense of belonging.

Also speaking Rev. Dr. Kalu Uchemba, the director of Schools in the foundation said they have about 7000 children in various universities being trained by the foundation.

She solicited mentors who are passionate about helping give hope to the children so as to collectively make the country a better place.
