Mr. Azeez Adeyemi, Special Assistant to Gov. Dapo Abiodun of Ogun on Students’ Matters, on Thursday donated 120 pairs of school uniforms to primary school pupils in the Ewekoro Local Government Area of the state.
Speaking to newsmen after the donation, the special assistant noted that the gesture was part of his efforts to alleviate the hardship of the people in the area, saying it was important to give back to society.
The beneficiaries of the gesture were pupils of Community Primary School, Ijumon Ologboni, and African Church Nursery and Primary School, Owowo.
Adeyemi explained that the present government in the state had resolved to change the fortune of education for good, saying that the government had embarked on the rehabilitation of about 956 schools across the state.
He noted that the government had also canceled all sorts of levies in public primary and secondary schools because of its belief in the free education policy.
“The government has been releasing funds on monthly basis as running cost to all headteachers in primary schools and all principals in secondary schools,” he said.

Adeyemi appealed to the people of the state to continue to support the present administration led by Abiodun.
Responding on behalf of the Ijumon Ologboni community, Mr. Kayode Alani commended the governor’s aide for the gesture, calling on other government officials and well-meaning Nigerians to emulate him.
Also speaking, the Head Teacher of African Church Nursery and Primary School, Mr. Saka Oyeleke, commended the state government on its giant strides in the education sector.
Oyeleke said that many pupils came to school with torn uniforms while some were without uniforms.
According to him, the gesture by the governor’s aide will increase students’ enrollment in school.
