The sole Senator from the FCT at the National Assembly, Senator Philip Tanimu Aduda has warned those trooping into the FCT to participate in the forthcoming February 12 area council elections to steer clear and allow the elections to be peaceful.
Aduda handed down the warning in the FCT expanded security meeting to which he was invited.
While commending INEC for its transparency, he decried governors of some states and some politicians trooping into the FCT for the elections.
He noted that some of the governors coming into the FCT for the area council elections have not conducted local government elections in their states.
He warned that INEC should be allowed to conduct free, fair, and credible elections in the FCT.
“We have to conduct this election without intimidation and it should be free and fair; the Minister, Muhammad Bello have conducted credible elections in the past, this will be the third one, why are all of them trooping into the FCT?

Well, those coming from other states are free to come, but the elections must be free and fair,” he warned.
He called on INEC to insist on credible polls and to declare whoever wins. “ You must give it to whoever wins without intimidation, security operatives must be on top of their game and must not allow hooliganism.”
He stated that power comes from God and that nobody should hoodwink the people.
He commended the FCT Minister for respecting everybody’s feelings and desires in the past years, a situation that has promoted peace and harmony in the FCT.
