Abuja shuts down for Super Eagles

...Head of Service directs half day work, FCTA too

Following the crucial clash between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Black Stars of Ghana in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital Tuesday, the Head of Service of the Federation has directed that all offices close by 1:00 pm Tuesday to enable workers to go and support the Nigerian team to victory.

Following this directive, the FCT Administration has equally directed all offices of the FCT Administration to close by 12:00 noon to enable the nation’s capital workers to enjoy the game as well as support the Super Eagles.

This directive was contained in a circular issued by the Head of Service of the Federation, signed by Ngozi Onwudiwe, Permanent Secretary (Service Welfare Office) on behalf of the Head of Service.

JJ circular which came out late Monday titled: “FIFA Qatar World Cup 2022 Qualifiers Between Nigeria and Ghana” read in part:

“As you are aware, the Super Eagles of Nigeria will be meeting the Black Stars of Ghana in continuation of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier, playoff, the second leg.

“There is a need to mobilize support for the Nigerian team, consequently, I am directed to inform you that all offices will be closed at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, 29th March 2022.”

The circular was addressed to all federal permanent secretaries who were equally directed to give it wide circulation and publicity.

Also, in a related development, the FCT Administration has equally directed that offices by close by 12:00 noon for same purpose.

FG blames PDP again for Nigeria’s woes

This was contained in a circular signed by the Director , Human Resource Management, Muhammad Bashir.

The circular read in parts: ” Arising from the need to extend overwhelming support and solidarity to the Nigeria National Football Team (Super Eagles)who are scheduled to engage the Black Stars of Ghana in the 2nd leg 2022 world cup play-off in Abuja, I am directed to convey approval for early closure or work on Tuesday 29th March, 2022.

“For emphasis, all offices across the Secretariats, Departments and Agencies of the FCT Administration are to be closed for work by 12:00noon being Tuesday, 29th March, 2022 to enable staff proceed to National Stadium and watch the scheduled football match which will kick-off at 4:00pm.

The first leg of the clash ended in a barren draw in Ghana recently.
