Human rights activist, Deji Adeyanju has filed a petition to the Federal Government for the arrest of former Niger Delta militant, Asari Dokubo, over threat to Rivers Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara.
Recall that Asari had paraded some men as his soldiers, whom he described as “loyal to President Bola Tinubu”.
Following the parade, Governor Fubara ordered military to dissolve Asari’s private militia immediately.
Reacting to the Governor’s order, the former militant threatened to destabilise Rivers State, saying that the nefarious activities of Islamic terrorist organisation, Boko Haram, will be “child’s play compared to the havoc he would cause.”.
The video sparked outrage from Nigerians, with many calling for his immediate arrest for threatening a sitting governor.

In a petition filed to the the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, Adeyanju demanded the militant’s detention, arguing that Asari’s comments shouldn’t be permitted to spread without proper retribution.
He requested the NSA to ensure that Asari be jailed immediately as he was a threat to national security.
“I have just personally submitted a petition to the NSA calling for the arrest of Dokubo Asari over threat to Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara. One nation with two separate laws: one for Emefiele who was arraigned for possession of a licensed short gun & another for Dokubo,” Adeyanju said in a tweet.
