By Kassim Omomia

Some members of the National working committee of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) including State Governors on Tuesday night met with APC lawmakers in the National Àssembly

The meeting which did not have a clear agenda had the speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, the Senate President Ahmad Lawal, two former lawmakers now Governor’s, Aminu Bello Masari of Kastina state, Hope Uzodinma of Imo state prominent in the meeting

However, those familiar with the intrigues about the meeting, said it was not unconnected with the summons from a House resolution on President Muhhamadu Buhari to address the nation through the National Àssembly on the unending killings and deteriorating state on insecurity in the country

The National Assembly members had via a resolution from a motion on the massacre of 43 rice farmers in Bornu state, requested the president to be invited to disclose efforts the Federal Government is making and how to put a final end to the killings in the country, by insurgents, bandits , kidnappers and the general criminality in the the land , in addition to call for the sack of the service chiefs

But ‘ThisNigeria’ learnt that the meeting which went into the night and in closed door was to find a soft landing for the President and to avoid embbarassing moments , if indeed he will appear, especially from opposition members, in the manner the President was booed when he presented the 2019 budget sometime ago
