Akeredolu undertook 210 micro projects from 2017 till date, says Aid

Mr Babatunde Kolawole, Special Adviser to Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State on community development, has said that no fewer than 210 micro-projects had been undertaken by the Akeredolu-led administration from 2017 till date.

Kolawole made this known during the rural appreciation day held on Tuesday in Akure.

Kolawole, who explained that the programme was mainly set aside to say thank you to Akeredolu for his continuous support and commitment to programmes and projects, said that the projects were meant to improve the well-being of people in all rural communities in the state.

“A total of 210 micro-projects, covering the health and educational sectors, water supply, roads rehabilitation, erosion control, rural electricity supply and socio-economic projects like markets have been undertaken by the Community and Social Development Project (CSDP) in our rural communities since February 2017 when the present administration came on board.

“The Ondo State Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (Ondo RAAMP) has completed the construction of 5.35km out of 12.8km Monlege-Igbokoro-Ute/Owo pilot road as well as three box culverts along the roads to provide accessibility over the entire length of the roads.

“Till date, the Akeredolu-led administration has paid the sum of N1 billion only as the state’s counterpart fund for the RAAMP project which is expected to fully take off soon,” he said.

According to him, “For effective monitoring of the RAAMP project, the use of the online Construction Site Monitoring System (CoSMoS) and the Nigeria Rural Transport Information Management System )NiRTIMS) have been operationalized.”

The rural and indigenous people of Ondo State are deeply grateful for your kindness towards them and “I remain confident that Mr. Governor would continue to support strategic interventions in our rural communities to reduce poverty and improve the quality of living of people in rural areas.”

This our incredible journey into rural transformation has also been facilitated and given impetus by some of our partners in this government.

Kolawole also said that the Akeredolu-led administration had intervened and improved the well-being of the rural settlers through granting of approval for rural projects and initiatives such as the completion of diverse self-help projects spanning renovation of block of classrooms for Community Schools in Eporo, Owo and Adaja in Odigbo local government.

“The projects include the renovation of Basic Health Centres; opening up of access roads; completion of police station in Ugbonla, Ilaje; construction of borehole in Igorisa, Ode-Aye and construction of garri processing factory in Oboto, Ondo and Ago Kona, Owo; Construction of fish drying cabinets in Araromi waterside; construction of Open Market stalls and Slaughter Slab in Yaba, Idanre and Akungba respectively and construction of footbridge in Atoranse, Irele local government.

“Establishment of renewable energy system in several community schools for the teaching of STEM subjects; establishment of Community Development Committees (CDCs) in all the 18 Local Government Areas; hosting of the inaugural International Human Solidarity Day in Ondo State; construction of Community Development Zonal Offices in Ile-Oluji, Oba-Ile and Owo, just to mention a few,” he said.
