
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), South-West Zone, has described Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, the Alaafin of Oyo as a recognized custodian, embodiment and pride of the Yoruba culture and tradition.
This is contained in a statement jointly signed by the National Vice-President, Ronke Afebioye-Samo, and the Zonal Secretary of the union, Abdulrazak Alege, on Wednesday in Ibadan.
The NUJ, while congratulating the traditional ruler, on his recent 83 years birthday, said Oba Adeyemi III remains “a great emperor with deep knowledge and understanding of Yoruba history, culture and tradition.
The union commended the traditional ruler for promoting and preserving the Yoruba culture everywhere he goes.
“We felicitate with our great royal father and pride of the Yorubas, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, the great-grandson of Oduduwa, who is the progenitor of the Yoruba race.
“We are always proud of Oba Adeyemi III because of his exemplary leadership acumen, wisdom, and astounding knowledge about the history of our race.
“Our great Alaafin is an advocate of good governance, supported by traditional values, norms, and customs.
“Oba Adeyemi had overtime used every opportunity, both local and international, to educate, instruct as well as teach the world about the greatness of the Yoruba race.

“We are always awed by your great passion in seeking more knowledge about Yoruba history and also dishing out this knowledge intelligently to the world about this great black nation.
“The younger generation has continuously learned from this unique aspect of yours and we urge you to continue in this graceful path. We shall remain grateful to you forever.
“Today, we celebrate you on the occasion of your birthday and we wish you many more years of wisdom, knowledge, and understanding,” NUJ said. (NAN)
