Alex Ekubo expresses worry over incessant killings

Nollywood actor, Alex Ekubo has lamented the incessant killings by mobs in the country.

Reacting to the murder of Deborah Yakubu and David Imoh, the actor in a post on Instagram demanded the need to end jungle justice.

“Section 33(1) of the Nigerian constitution provides that every person has right to life and no one should be deprived of his life.

“Section 319 of criminal code stipulates that when a group of persons takes laws into their hands by assaulting a suspected criminal, they are guilty of the offense of assault punishable by1 year imprisonment or murder which is punishable by death.”

The actor however implored the lawmakers to put in place and enforce stringent laws to abolish this” barbaric, inhumane, and uncivilized act in the country soon.”

ThisNigeria reported that Deborah Samuel was killed by her colleagues for allegedly insulting Prophet Muhammad.

Days after, David Imoh was killed by a mob of motorcyclists after a rift over N100 change.
