Following an alleged sexual misconduct involving a minor, controversial entertainer, Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington has been summoned by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).
Recall that the entertainer had earlier claimed to have had a sexual encounter with a 15-year-old girl, which caught the attention of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency.
The agency approached NAPTIP to run a thorough investigation into Speed Darlington’s claim, which was heavily condemned by netizens.
However, the singer, on Wednesday made a U-turn, claiming he made the video for him to trend, adding that controversial statements are one of the tools used by celebrities to remain in the limelight.
Reacting on Thursday, NAPTIP, in a statement dated May 28, confirmed it had summoned the singer for questioning. The agency added that it would take appropriate legal action should he fail to honour the invitation.
NAPTIP reiterated its commitment to upholding the rights of minors and ensuring accountability in all cases of alleged sexual abuse or exploitation.
