Ambassador Hussaini Haruna Coomassie and his colleague, Amb (Dr) Jonathan Emmamuzo Ojadah, who was nominated as international observers, under the International Peace Commission, IPC, an affiliate of the United Nations have jointly congratulated the Zambian President-elect Mr. Hakainde Hichilema.
The duo who spoke to the press at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport, Lusaka Zambia earlier on their way back to Nigeria said they applauded the incumbent President Edgar Chalgwa Lungu for his maturity and statesmanship, before, during, and after the 2021 presidential election in Zambia.
“The Zambian electorates turned up massively, well behaved, highly composed citizens. They went to various polling units and cast their votes in an impressive manner, no snatching of ballot boxes which is the usual practice in Africa.”
Mr. Lungu, the incumbent President polled 1,787,629.00, while the opposition leader Mr. Hakainde Hichilema polled 2,791,409.00 thereby defeating the incumbent President with a wide margin of about 1,003780. 00.

He noted that the maturity displayed by Mr. Lungu is highly commendable for allowing the process to go on smoothly without intimidation or interruption by security operatives or political thugs, saying Nigeria and the rest of Africa have a lot to learn from Zambia, he added.
In his remarks, Amb Jonathan Ojadah who was overwhelmed with the way and manner the presidential election was peacefully conducted without any form of harassment said there were one or two unavoidable incidences in some wards, but they were impressively controlled and elections continued peacefully afterward.
Dr. Jonathan however advised the incoming President to continue with the good works of President Lungu and make amendments of his lapses where necessary, with the look of things democracy has come to stay in Zambia, Amb Jonathan concluded.
