Amendments proposed to Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act

The Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act is in the process of being amended by the House of Representatives.

The amendment to this Act will ensure that public servants can own and operate a private business while in service. Previous to this amendment, the only private business that was allowed was farming.

The amendment may also see to it that control of the Code of Conduct Bureau and Code of Conduct Tribunal is moved from the Presidency to the National Judicial Council. However, the chairman of The Bureau would be appointed by the Federal Judicial Service Commission pending the approval of the National Judicial Council.

The bill to amend this Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act was sponsored by Awaji-Inombek Abiante, representing Andoni/ Opobo/ Nkoro Federal Constituency of Rivers State.
