Amotekun boosts food sufficiency in Ondo, says Deputy Gov.

Acting Governor, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa has said that the effort of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu in securing the State from the menace of cattle herdsmen and bandits through the introduction of the South-West Security outfit co-named “AMOTEKUN” has led to the increase in food production in the sunshine state.

Aiyedatiwa who is the Deputy Governor spoke at the graduation ceremony of 260 Incubatees, trained and empowered by Ondo State/ International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) in conjunction with the Federal Government and in partnership with the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) at Ondo State Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry compound, Alagbaka Akure.

The ceremony was a unique one in the history of the State as 260 Incubatees trained, graduated and empowered having received training in four major Agri-business enterprises namely, Cocoa, Cassava, Fishery and Poultry.
Represented by Deputy Chief of Staff, Office of Deputy Governor, Prince Segun Omojuwa, Aiyedatiwa said the project would greatly ensure that the livelihood of the youths is improved in the area of food security and employment generation.

“This project’s overall goal is to transform the rural economy in which the rural population can derive prosperity and equal benefits while the project development objective is to enhance income, food security and job creation for rural youths and women through Agri-business enterprise development on a sustainable basis in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria”, declared the Acting Governor.

Aiyedatiwa commended Governor Akeredolu for key-in into the project and for his support towards the success recorded so far since the inception of the project in the State.

Earlier, Commissioner of Agriculture and Forestry, Hon Olayato Aribo appreciated the efforts of Mr Governor and other agricultural development Agencies for this laudable project in the State.

At the event are Commissioner of Women Affairs and Rural Development, Dr ( Mrs ) Julianah Oshadaun, DG, PPMU, Engr Babajide Akeredolu, SSA on Agri-business, Pastor Akin Olotu, SSA on Youths and Students Affairs, Hon Muyiwa Ogunyemi, Financial Controller of IFAD, Mathew Ereima, National Project Coordinator of IFAD/LIFE-ND, Engr Sanni Abiodun, Special Assistant to Governor on New Media, Ladi Okunniga, and others.
