The Ubium Development Association (UDA) has reaffirmed its commitment to unity, youth empowerment, and grassroots development with the inauguration of a new leadership team under a retired Deputy Comptroller of Immigration, Ime Nta.
Speaking after the election, Nta underscored the need for collective effort and renewed engagement among Ubium indigenes to foster sustainable growth.
He pledged to strengthen communication among members, expand participation across local and diaspora communities, and empower young people through mentorship and innovation-driven initiatives.
According to a statement by the association’s Publicity Secretary, Akpan Sunday Nelson, Nta commended the Clan Head of Ubium, Etebom Ukpong Udoewah (JP), and the Executive Chairman of Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, Alfred Charles, for their steadfast support of the association’s development vision.
He also acknowledged the contributions of Barr. Ekpo Nta, the distinguished Senator Effiong Bob, and Hon. Otobong Edemidiong, describing them as enduring pillars of progress in the community.
The statement noted that the new leadership intends to strengthen collaboration with government institutions, private sector partners, and Ubium professionals across various sectors to attract development projects that would directly impact livelihoods.
It said UDA will focus on capacity building, entrepreneurship support, and scholarship programmes aimed at nurturing a new generation of skilled and self-reliant youths.
It further added that Nta’s administration would also prioritise infrastructural improvement, health awareness, and cultural preservation as key pillars of the association’s roadmap for community development.
“Our goal is to create a united platform where ideas, resources, and expertise converge for the advancement of every Ubium son and daughter,” the statement quoted him as saying.
