Anambra: INEC hand over final list of registered voters, paste names of party candidates

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has said it has fulfilled two additional tasks preparatory to the Anambra Governorship election holding on November 6th after it finally presented the final list of voters register to the 18 political parties and pasted the list of names party candidates in the Commission headquarters in Akwa.

Festus Okoye, National Commissioner, and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee made this disclosure in a statement after the Commission met and deliberated on a wide range of issues including preparations for the conduct of the election, it has achieved this feat despite the attempt to the disruption it.

The Commission said it is determined to conduct a free and violence-free poll and this will further enable it to discuss other strategic planning in place during the election when it meets with political parties as part of its consultative meeting on the 8th of October.

According to Okoye: ” In line with the Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the election released on 19th January 2021, the Commission, has today, 7th October 2021 implemented two additional activities.

The Final Register of Voters for the Anambra Governorship election was presented to the 18 Registered Political Parties participating in the election at the headquarters of the Commission in Awka, Anambra State.

Furthermore, the Commission released the Final List of Candidates for the election and has pasted same in the State office of the Commission in Awka, Anambra State.

The List has also been uploaded to the Commission’s website and social media platforms.

“In its unwavering determination to conduct a credible election, the Commission will tomorrow, 8th October 2021 hold an emergency consultative meeting with the leadership of all the registered political parties in Nigeria at the Commission’s Headquarters in Abuja.

” The Commission further assures the people of Anambra State of its resolve to secure the preparation processes for the conduct of the Governorship election and ensure that their right to vote in a safe and secure environment is guaranteed”, he said.

It will be recalled that the Commission recently expressed confidence recently that the Commission is fully prepared to conduct a free and credible poll in Anambra State despite attacks on its facility and unabating atmosphere of fear that characterize the state and the South East region.
