The ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra State has won all the chairmanship and Councilorship seats in the Saturday, September 28th, 2024 local government elections held across the 21 councils in the State.
The Chairman of the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission, (ANSIEC) Genevieve Osakwe Esq, announced the results at the ANSIEC head office in Awka, on Sunday night.
Osakwe said APGA cleared all the 21 chairmanship seats while councillorship positions in the 21 local government areas of the state were also won by APGA as declared at the ward levels.
While declaring the election as the fairest, Osakwe said the commission carefully collated and analyzed the results to ensure that there were no mistakes.
Recall that none of the opposition candidates or political parties and their party agents came to the ANSIEC office where the election results were announced.
The ANSIEC Chairman, who announced the total scores of the APGA candidates and their names one after the other, declared them winners and returned elected, having scored the highest votes cast.
She commended the people of Anambra State for trooping out en masse to exercise their civic rights, while also appreciating security agencies for ensuring peace and orderliness throughout the process.
According to Osakwe, “This is to affirm the result of the chairmanship and councilorship election held on September 28, 2024. The commission carefully collated and analyzed the results to ensure that there were no mistakes.”

She said, “Election was held at all the polling units across Anambra State on September 28, and it was free, fair, and credible.”
It was however observed that apart from the officials and party agents of APGA, no other political party official was present at the ANSIEC office when the results were declared at about 8:20 pm on Sunday.
