Anambra women rally support for Gov. Obiano on Soludo as successor

Hundreds of women drawn from the twenty-one local government areas of Anambra state, under the aegis of Anambra Women for Peace and Growth Initiative have thrown them behind Governor Willie Obiano, on his choice for the former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, to succeed him as the next governor of the state, come March 17, 2022.

They also expressed concern over the lingering Court cases capable of affecting the forthcoming gubernatorial election scheduled for November 6th this year.

The women initiative during a peaceful protest at the Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square amid heavy downpour and clutching placards in Awka the state capital expressed their support for the continuity project of the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) led Government in the state.

Some of the placards and banners with inscriptions read; “Say no to Supreme Court governor”, Anambra Women want a free, fair and credible election and Anambra Women support the continuity of APGA government, “We don’t want Court governor in Anambra state; We don’t want what happens in Imo state to happen in Anambra”, among others.

The spokesperson for the group, Mrs. Joy Otuadimma noted that the women of Anambra State are out to contribute their quota to the peace and progress of the state.

Mrs. Otuadimma said Anambra State deserves steady growth and development for the sake of its children, stressing that the APGA government has repositioned Anambra State for the better.

She harped on the need for the party to continue to lead the state towards greatness.

They commended Governor Willie Obiano and his wife, Ebelechukwu for a job well done over the past seven years, hoping that they would continue to do great exploits for the state till their last day in office.

The women called on all Anambra women to be part of the ongoing voter registration exercise in order to have a stake in making a governor that will work for better Anambra state.
