The Southern Governors have set the deadline for the implementation of the anti-open grazing law in the southern region of Nigeria.
The agreement was reached during their meeting on Monday hosted by Lagos state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu in Ikeja on Monday, July 5th, 2021.
The deadline was set for September 1, 2021.
The forum also sympathised with the families and loved ones of security operatives who have fallen in the line of duty.
Present at the meeting were Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Emmanuel Udom (Akwa Ibom), Diri Duoye (Bayelsa), Willie Obiano (Anambra), Ben Ayade (Cross Rivers), Ifeanyi Okowa (Delta), David Umahi (Ebonyi), Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), Hope Uzodimma (Imo), Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (Ondo), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Adegboyega Oyetola (Osun).
Recall that the southern governors had reached an agreement to ban open grazing in the South after their meeting in Asaba, Delta state.

However, the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami kicked against the decision and compared it to banning the sales of spare parts in the North.
President Muhammadu Buhari had also ordered the recovery of grazing routes across the country.
