Alhaji Khalil Mustapha, a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, has urged Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State to urgently address the deepening level of insecurity in the state.

Mustapha made the plea on Monday in an interview with newsmen in Ibadan.

He decried the incessant robbery attacks, rival streets gang attacks and car hijacking, majorly being perpetrated with motorcycles in major streets in the state.

“It is quite worrisome that the security of our dear Oyo State is at its lowest ebb.

“Our people are losing their sources of income to hoodlums. Armed robbers have taken over the better parts of the state.

“Gov. Seyi Makinde needs to wake up to his responsibility as the Chief Security Officer of the state.

“He needs to have a first-hand situation assessment of happenings in the state.

“Today, street urchins and night marauders operate without check in some parts of the city,” Mustapha said.

He thanked leadership of APC at the state and national levels for the successes so far recorded in constituting new party structure.

The party leader said intra-party elections should not be seen as winner takes all affair, but should be an avenue to bring everybody together.

“We should use this New Year to reflect on our mistakes in the outgone year and make amends,” he said.

Mustapha, also son of the late foremost Islamic scholar and former Chairman, Oyo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Sheik Temitope Mustapha, said that APC remained the party to beat in the state.

“APC is a party with the best hands who are well grounded politically to fill elective positions in the state, which mistakenly slipped into the hands of underperforming PDP legislators,” he said.

Mustapha, vying for Ibadan North Federal Constituency seat, urged Nigerians to be resolute and steadfast in their supports for national growth and development.

He expressed optimism that 2022 was starting on an encouraging note, urging the people to embrace positive thoughts for the good of the land.

The APC chieftain, however, lauded President Muhammadu Buhari for his doggedness and determination to better the lot of Nigerians, not minding the harsh economy occasioned by COVID-19 pandemic.
