APC convention: Support group purchase form for Yilwatda’s re-election as chair

A political support group, Prince Simon Ali Support Organisation, has purchased the Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for Professor Nentawe Yilwatda as part of efforts to back his return as National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the party’s national convention.
The group said its action followed an earlier position it took in January advocating the retention of the APC’s zoning arrangement, which allocates the national chairmanship position to the North Central geopolitical zone.
Speaking to journalists after purchasing the forms, the group’s spokesperson, Dominic Alancha, said the move was intended to demonstrate strong support for Yilwatda’s leadership within the ruling party.
“Our message today is simple: we are not only endorsing Professor Yilwatda, but we are also taking a practical step by purchasing his nomination form to ensure continuity in leadership,” Alancha said.
He noted that members of the organisation believe Yilwatda possesses the leadership capacity and experience required to guide the party successfully into the next electoral cycle.
“We believe strongly in his competence and ability to steer the APC effectively as the party prepares for future political contests,” he stated.
Alancha stressed that the purchase of the forms was undertaken collectively by the Prince Simon Ali Support Organisation as part of its commitment to strengthening unity within the party.
“This decision was not taken in a personal capacity. It represents the collective resolve of our organisation to support stable leadership within the APC,” he said.
He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for upholding the party’s zoning arrangement, which retains the national chairmanship position in the North Central region.
“We appreciate President Tinubu for maintaining the zoning formula, which promotes fairness and balance within the party,” Alancha added.
The group expressed confidence that the APC national convention scheduled for March 27 and 28 would be peaceful and successful.
According to Alancha, the purchase of the forms signals strong grassroots backing for Yilwatda as the ruling party prepares for its next phase of political engagement.
