The Senate has confirmed the appointment of the new military service chiefs following their engagement by President Muhammadu Buhari on January 26th, 2020.
Their appointments were confirmed during Tuesday’s plenary after the Committee of Defence , led by Senator Aliyu Wammako, recommended their confirmation to the Senate.
President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, urged the new service chiefs to “take the war to bandits and insurgents and dislodge them in their hideouts.”
“Situations where bandits abduct students in secondary school at will are not acceptable,” he said.
The new service chiefs are: Major General Lucky Eluonye Onyenuchea lrabor as Chief of Defence Staff; Rear Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo as Chief of Naval Staff; Major General Ibrahim Attahiru as Chief of Army Staff; ; and Air Vice Marshal Isiaka O. Amao as Chief of Air staff.
